Standing nearly seven feet tall and weighing over 500 pounds, Andre the Giant dominated professional wrestling throughout the 1970s and '80s with an undefeated streak that lasted fifteen years. He transcended the ring with his iconic role as Fezzik in The Princess Bride and his legendary WrestleMania III showdown with Hulk Hogan before a record-breaking crowd. He wasn't just a wrestler — he was a cultural phenomenon.

Sadly, the same condition that made him a giant ultimately took him from us. Andre suffered from acromegaly, a rare disorder that fueled his extraordinary size but slowly destroyed his body from within. Chronic pain, failing mobility, and mounting cardiovascular strain defined his final years. On January 27, 1993, Andre passed away in his sleep from congestive heart failure at just 46 years old. He was posthumously named the first-ever inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame.
